| The unofficial motto of Grace Episcopal Church at Fifth and Linden in
Allentown is Finding Grace in the City. We have committed ourselves to finding
the grace already present in Center City Allentown and to creating an environment
where grace is made manifest to those who come to us in spiritual, psychological
or physical need.
While members of the parish actively attend to the work of keeping the
church running through their duties in various lay ministries, We are a small church with a very large church ministry. Although the operating budget of the church itself is about $150,000, the combined operating budget of our three corporate ministries exceeds that by far: Grace Community Foundation, $30,000. AIDS Outreach, $150,000. Grace Montessori, $275,000. |
|
Grace Community Foundation, a food pantry and distribution center, serves more than 200 ethnically, religiously and racially diverse families in the inner city. It is one of only two food pantries serving the residents of urban Allentown. |
| AIDS Outreach, a community based organization, collaborates with Lehigh Valley Hospital and AIDS Services Center of Bethlehem to provide wraparound, supportive services to more than 380 persons with HIV/AIDS and their families. |
| Grace Montessori School, a unique award-winning preschool, kindergarten and day care center, provides scholarship assistance to one-third of its diverse student body, inner city children whose families would otherwise not be able to afford a Montessori experience. Its reputation for educational excellence, moral grounding and diversity brings children from affluent suburban families to the inner city. |
